The team and I had the pleasure of designing the outdoor spaces for lovely couple, Alice and Alex in Annandale.

At the back of the house were two, tricky outdoor levels that had no flow or connection to each other.  The first level had a deck area which was in very bad condition and was basically falling apart and very unattractive.  We connected the two levels with a set of meandering timber steps through the garden.  We also terraced the levels to make it feel less intimidating to walk down the steps.

The top area was renovated and made suitably comfortable for entertaining and cooking outdoors with a barbecue and a few striking potted plants as feature accents.  The new glass balustrade keeps everyone safe while leaving the area feeling open and unobstructed – adding to the feeling of connection between both levels of the garden.

Alex and Alice wanted a beautiful lawn area to retreat to and spend time in and of course, their Boston Terrier, Rubi needed lawn too.  This was provided on the ground plane of the garden and a bench seat was installed to draw people downstairs, making it a nice destination to relax in.  Screening plants along the fence line, keep the garden feeling intimate and private, avoiding being looked upon by neighbours and anyone in the rear laneway.

When planning their wedding, Alice and Alex decided to have their marriage ceremony in their new favourite spot – their garden.  Team ARD would like to thank them for sharing their special day with us, and as you can see their outdoor space worked a treat and provided everything they needed to have their joyful wedding celebration with family and friends.
