ARD have blogged about the amazing Aesop stores before, usually examples of beautiful design overseas.  We are mad about the design of their stores, especially the latest relocation in Paddington, Sydney.

Designed in collaboration with Clare Cousins Architects, as a celebration of Sydney’s aquatic passion with a nod to iconic local swimming spots such as Bondi Icebergs, the Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Pool, and the city’s many picturesque sea baths.  The signature store sits just around the corner from the hustle, bustle of Oxford Street, tucked into a quiet nook off Glenmore Road. Shades of verdant green from the planting at the terraced entrance is extended indoors in the most serene grey-green resin-bonded pebble-crete that skims the interior walls and ceiling, making you feel like you are inside an upside-down swimming pool!

Coved corners and smooth grotto-like recessed niches evoke shoreline feels of limpid pools and luscious seaweed greenery sprouting from the depths.  Inset shelving in eucalypt green appear as the rungs of pool ladders. A floating travertine basin grounds the space; its mineral layers and sandy hues conjure seaside cliffs.

Founded in Melbourne in 1987, Aesop products are world-renowned for their superlative formulations and meticulously considered signature designed stores.
