Pacific House

Dover Heights Landscape Design Project

This coastal dwelling in Sydney has been transformed into a contemporary, materially rich, and engaging family home. The design vernacular for this project was inspired by the client’s European heritage, family lifestyle and cliffside site.

Alexander & Co designed a stunning alteration and addition to the existing 1990’s concrete framed house overlooking the ocean.  They also modified portions of the exterior building envelope including doors and windows, cladding, entryways, facades and pergolas.

My team and I enjoy collaborating with Alexander & Co and we like nothing more than working with modern Mediterranean style architecture.

The clifftop site by the sea is exposed to severe weather, so the plant palette had to reflect this. We created a lush textural planting with the inclusion of feature plants including Cactus, Olive trees, Palms and Cloud trees. We had a variety of trailing plants spilling off the different levels of the house and softening the architecture.

A combination of terracotta tiling and natural stone add to the Mediterranean feel and we created an intimate, conversation nook, to gather around a firepit and be slightly protected from the breezy seaside elements.
