Pilea Peperomioides

The Chinese Money Plant

Pilea peperomioides, is also known as the Chinese money plant, pancake plant, lefse plant, or missionary plant.  It is a species of flowering plants in the Urticaceae family, native to the Yunnan Province in southern China.  This sweetie has become the must-have house plant of the year!  It has lovely circle or pancake shaped leaves that spring out at you joyfully.  This is an easy care, designer looking plant that you can have in your home to show off your green thumb.  They like indirect sunlight, free-draining and lightly moist soil.  Feel the soil before automatically watering as they don’t like to have soggy feet.  The Pilea is also an easy plant to propagate because they produce their own little babies, which you can separate and plant into another pot.

You can buy them online at Pilea Place and Plants In A Box
