Green Wave

Casuarina Glauca

Casuarina glauca ‘Green Wave’ is one of our favourite shaggy green native groundcovers.  Often referred to as ‘Cousin It’ after the famous ‘Adam’s Family’ character - they are hardy, resilient, versatile and incredibly varied in their shapes and forms.

Green Wave looks great planted amongst the base of trees, and also with soft weeping grasses, dwarf Banksias and upright shrubs like Adenanthos and Calothamnus quadrifidus. They work well as a feature plant and will cascade and spill over rocks, and steep embankments or retaining walls and looks amazing in a hanging pot.

This very easy and dependable ground cover will help stabilise banks and also acts as a weed suppressant.  Suitable for growing in most parts of Australia, it can handle frosts and periods of dry weather. A great coastal plant that likes full sun to partly shady and can handle poor, boggy soils although it does best in well-draining soils.
