Produced by the Clean Air and Urban Landscapes Hub at the University of Melbourne, the new ‘Indigenous plant use’ booklet, by Barkandji woman and researcher Zena Cumpston, explores the cultural, nutritional, technological and medicinal use of indigenous plants.

The booklet encourages the use and appreciation of indigenous plants and provides a portal through which we may all begin to understand the complexity of Indigenous scientific practice.

You’ll find information on more than 50 indigenous plant species displayed on labels that you can print and use in your own garden. These labels provide an opportunity for people to learn on Country and connect with Aboriginal knowledge of plant use.

The booklet has been designed for any individual or group interested in indigenous plant use, including schools, community groups, greening practitioners, home gardeners and their families.

The booklet is supported by The Clean Air and Urban Landscapes Hub, funded by the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program.
