The design of the façade and entryway to your home is determined not only by the architecture, the material and shape but also by the light and its direction and colour. The appearance of a facade alters during the course of the day due to the changing direction of light and the varying components of diffuse and direct light. The positioning and design of the light fitting and different light distributions give facades an appearance and personality of their own at night.

Lighting your entryway serves several important functions and is a gesture of welcoming when you have the light on in the evenings to illuminate the threshold of your home.  A well-lit entry enables safe passage for visitors and gives a warm first impression of your home.  You need to select the right lighting to suit the architecture of the building and the space around and the design should be the right style, size and of course a priority is to make sure it’s made from the right kind of materials to withstand the outdoor elements.

Some exterior wall lights that my team and I really like is this selection by Roger Pradier® From Special Lights in Sydney.

The design by Normal Studio- Séléné has a presence that is almost sculptural. This range, which has a pureness of line, was born of close observation of the know-how gained from the techniques of tin-smithing. “The generosity of the form calls to mind the leaf of the water lily. The velvety appearance of the colours chosen is a counterpart to the downy surfaces of some plants,” say Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï. The masked light source gives out a beautiful luminous halo that plays with the colour of the support.

All Roger Pradier® products are made with aluminium and come with a 25 year anti-corrosion warranty, they also have 25 standard colour finishes to choose from.
